Collecting Criswell

criswell1I have been ordering more copies of Criswell books signed by the author. I’m up to five, I think. I keep them in a teak box from Pier One. He fascinated me from the age of ten. He was so stunning in that tux. That voice, that spitcurl … it was all so– disturbing!
And yet when I die, my wife will put them on the curb. She has said so! And no one will even bend to pick one up, not in Bakersfield, with that flaming queen on the cover! How sad to hope one gets a lingering disease, to have world enough and time to liquidate a precious collection on ebay … and brighten the day of some enfeebled dweeb like myself…

Vampira told me he was the most infantile person she had ever met, aside from Ed Wood. But I loved him. I waited by the mailbox for Famous Monsters. Eventually, he gave me a tour of the Ackermansion. forryackerman
